The comment about "automobile, bicycle and pedestrian traffic congestion" is just hilarious. I'm surprised he didn't go all the way and complain about increased wheelchair and electric scooter congestion too.

I'm not particular surprised at the level of NIMBYism in this case, especially given that the homeowner opposite is the perpetrator of some fairly antisocial topiary (see Google Street View: http://bit.ly/8eTaM6.)

While this site is zoned residential, it does back onto the Broadway shops, and half of that block of Vine is commercial - so I don't think this will be anywhere near as disruptive as claimed.

That said, I am in favour of densification in Kits - I wish we weren't losing the Liquor Store and the IGA, but that kind of car-oriented development is going the way of the dodo.

Welcome to Mayor Gregor's way of doing business in Vancouver. After experiencing the way that they are changing the face of Kitsilano with the new Pinnacle development on the IGA lot, it is not surprising that they are continuing with the oversize buildings elsewhere in the neighbourhood. Gregor and his team put on a face of being eco-friendly and responsive. Their lack of listening skills will bite them in the butt, but unfortunately not soon enough to save our community.

When the buildings were torn down across from St Augustine's school there were several long time residents, low income residents and dozens of seniors who were evicted. Overpriced and super small condo units went in on the southside of that street that look nothing like what the neighborhood has already. I believe some of them are still for sale. What is done is done. Seniors and students and low income families need places to live, period. There are hardly any seniors living in Kitsilano, and the ones that are here are being pushed out. All we have left are middle class white 9-5ers in there 20's and 30's. House owners in that area need to relax and greedy developers need to step off. Houses in that area are still worth over a million bucks so chill.
