Another Large Footprint Available on 4th
City Market (2214 West 4th @ Yew) had its last everything-must-go sale today. For me it’s always been a Coke vs. Pepsi or Mac vs. PC thing; I’m a New Apple Farm Market guy (2344 West 4th @ Vine), so I never went to City Market. But for the CM people this must be a loss.
City Market’s closure means there are now three rather sizable footprints for lease on West 4th: Coast Mountain’s old location, Karma’s old location, and now City Market’s old location. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for all three locations to be leased.
Before you couldn’t find good retail space on 4th avenue, now there will be an abundance. I believe that many will be swept up eventually but the landlords need to seriously consider their rent rates. They are really out of whack with current economic conditions.
