Bicycles

Bicycles VancouverI wasn’t expecting another bicycle store to take Ride Away’s recently vacated spot on West 4th @ Burrard. Then again, this isn’t a bad location for a bicycle store. It’s across from Dizzy Cycles and close to snowboard alley, making this part of West 4th a bit of an outdoor sports shop destination.

The new store that will give it a try in this location is simply called Bicycles, and will offer a slightly different approach than more traditional bicycle stores:

My goal is to provide professional level service and custom fitted and specced performance bicycles with a focus on road, track, touring and cyclocross bicycles. Every bicycle that comes out of bicycles is uniquely built to measure for each customer. This is a bit of a unique process in this industry and it takes a little longer to do but it doesn’t cost any more to do and I feel it’s important, above all else, that a bicycle must fit if it’s going to be a good thing.

Man, I’ll miss Ride Away. I took my bike for tuneups and fixes there and they treated me like gold every time. I do wish the new Bicycles shop good luck, but they sound like they’re for a different kind of rider than me.
