I am very glad Ron Zalko is at the bottom. He is so rude…I am sensitive by nature. He shouted at me and made me cry during peak hours. I am ashamed to return and he will not refund my remaining $$$ of my membership.

I was a member and instructor at Fitness World for 12 years. It was extremely sad to be treated so poorly at RZ.

Also the only class that is up to other gym standards is the spin class. The step moves are years behind in choreograph and the Ron Zalko classic is odd! The cardio kickboxing class is not a kickboxing class. Maybe a weird boxing instruction course?

But we are all human and we all have problems. In a way I feel empathy for him as he seems to not be not “all there”.

Secondly I feel empathy for his staff. I don’t like working out there. I couldn’t imagine working for him.

If there are any Ron Zalko staff members reading this review I have some advice for you. What do you do if life give you lemons? Make lemomade! Instead of yelling at your clients for not having towels, why don’t you sell them at the front counter? Ever notice how the store under FW sells so many water bottles, earphones, padlock and protein bars? Just a thought.

I wish the gym well as I want all businesses in my neighborhood to be successful but this is definatly not the place for me.

I am not writing this to bash RZ but we work hard for our $$$ so think carefully before joining. 2 blocks up is Kitsilano Workout!!! WOOHOO here I come grind class.

I had a membership to Zalko for two years. It was either 1) keep my membership or 2) lose my hearing (Zalko keeps the volume up for his workouts and no one else’s. Worse customer service I’ve ever seen)!!

Dawn, 23 votes is certainly too small of a sample in a neighborhood this size to provide any revelant results. However, you mention 1,000,000 people in the G.S. vote. While the Straight might claim 1,000,000 readers (they publish far less but count “pass along” readership)they compiled votes only in the thousands for each category. Still a much better than 23 votes but the 1,000,000 figure is meaningless.
