According to the Vancouver Province this morning, two people are recovering from gunshot wounds after masked gunmen shot up Quattro restaurant in Kitsilano in a gang-related attack last night.

One woman, 21, is in hospital. A man, 29, released himself from hospital shortly after he was admitted, said police. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

“What we can tell you now is that the 29-year-old man, we believe, was a target of the shooting, that he is well-known to police,” said Constable Tim Fanning. “It’s a very shocking occurrence. Here we have a very popular, busy restaurant in town.

Almost everybody in the restaurant is innocent, has nothing to do with any criminal activity, and yet they certainly could have been the victims of this shooting. We are very concerned.”

The victims were celebrating a birthday along with 24 other people at Quattro restaurant at West 4th and Trafalgar. Just after 11 p.m., two men with handguns, wearing dark clothes and masks, shot through the window bordering Trafalgar Street.

Both victims had their backs to the window, said Fanning. Several cars fled the area at a high rate of speed after the shooting.

If there’s one thing we can do to help this situation it is to continue to support the local business that’s been victimized by this event. Eat at Quattro and take back one of the places that makes this a great neighbourhood.

I was at the scene but wish to remain annonymous. The restaurant staff was very helpful leading up to and after the incident. They did their very best to make sure everybody was as comfortable as possible after what happened. As you can imagine everyone was very shaken up and upset. The employees at quattros were bringing out water and towels for everyone. It truly was amazing to see the staff still working after what happened. I will eat there again. I know it wasn’t anything to do with the establishment and everything to do with the person who was there. He could’ve been anywhere, therefore it could have happened anywhere. I feel bad for Quatrro’s. This shouldn’t effect their reputation. And under the circumstances they did better then I could imagine.

    Sincerely,

A Customer that will come back.
